Around this time of year, members of our active Henderson community are often outside, enjoying the weather. With many residents selecting golf as their activity of choice, we compiled a list of five golf courses that are 15 minutes or less away from our Inspirada community.
Southern Highlands Golf Club
Is the bane of your existence trying to guess what time you’ll get onto the green and having to remember to book a time to play? Southern Highlands Golf Course members never have to schedule a tee time. The par-72, 7,510-yard golf course at Southern Highlands was designed by Robert Trent Jones and his son, Robert Trent Jones Jr., and appeals to golfers of all skill levels. The club takes pride in their caddie program, led by caddie master Sean Waddell, which offers four types of memberships.
If that is not enough to convince you to give this course a try: they have a 42,000 square foot clubhouse modeled in a Tuscan style, tennis courts, and a 13,000-square-foot spa and fitness center that includes a 25-meter lap pool and children’s wading pool, spa treatments and services, and yoga, pilates, aerobics, and sculpting classes.
Rio Secco Golf Club
Looking for a challenging course? The course at Rio Secco is over 7,400 yards and is described as “tremendously challenging, fair, and demanding course layout.” However, it should be noted that there are four teeing grounds for those seeking a beginner or intermediate experience.
This club features the ability to call in or book your tee time online. They also offer the opportunity to be instructed by Butch Harmon (former golf coach of Tiger Woods) and his staff.
Overlooking the seventh, eighth, and ninth holes is the 30,000 square-foot, European-themed clubhouse that includes Janela’s Restaurant and Bar.
The course at Rio Secco is currently undergoing a renovation and they are set to open up again on Friday, Oct. 13. They are accepting reservations now for fall. Current 2017 peak season rates range from $129 to $199 and off-season rates are typically $79 to $159. This fee includes a shared golf cart, bottled water, and practice balls.
Revere Golf Club
The Revere Golf Club offers two courses: The Lexington and the Concord Course. Both courses are 18-holes, par-72, and approximately 7,000 square feet. The Revere courses were designed by golfer Billy Casper and architect Greg Nash. Regardless of your skill level, the club offers options to accommodate. Additionally, they offer instruction and lessons.
Once you work up an appetite, head to the restaurant at the club, Buckman’s Grille, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding course and Las Vegas Strip.
The best part? They offer discounts for Clark County residents. Simply show photo identification at check-in to obtain the rate. Tee times can be booked online.
Anthem Country Club
The 18-hole course at Anthem Country Club was designed by Hale Irwin and Keith Foster and is a par-72, 7,313-yard experience. Each hole includes five sets of tees to accommodate any player. The club also features a practice area to hone your swing.
Golf members of the club have full access to the club’s six tennis courts, basketball court, sand volleyball court, children’s playground areas, a 13,000 square foot fitness center and fitness classes, swimming pool, restaurants, and clubhouse. Membership privileges are also given to the member’s spouse or significant other, and dependent children under the age of 23.
Desert Willow Golf Course
If you have a junior golf player in the family, check out the Desert Willow Golf Course.
The 18-hole, 3,811-yards, par-60 course designed by Billy Casper and Greg Nash, offers a junior golf academy. The academy is designed for six to 17-year-old golfers and is taught by the husband-and-wife-team, Pam and Dale Bowers.
Desert Willow also offers one of the largest driving ranges in Henderson, a 9,500 square-foot putting green, and instruction for adults. Rates are affordable, and tee times can be booked online.
When you’re not playing, visitors of the course can visit Willow Restaurant and Bar.
