9th Annual Munchies 4 the Military

Inspirada is teaming up with the Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation for the 9th Annual Munchies 4 the Military to send care packages to deployed military men and women overseas. Presented by the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, other sponsors include Liberty High School and City of Henderson, Munchies 4 the Military holds its annual donation drive during the month of April asking for the community’s help in collecting wish list donations for the Foundation’s care packages. The Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation, 501 (c) nonprofit, was founded by Suni Chabrow after her son, SPC Douglas J. Green, was killed in action on August 28, 2011, during his second tour in Afghanistan. The Foundation honors his memory by “providing comfort and support to service members and their family members by sending thoughtful and useful care packages during their deployments and planning memorable experiences for service members to look forward to once they return home.”
Our goal for this year’s Munchies 4 the Military? Send 500 care packages to active-duty servicemen and women to show our appreciation for their sacrifice. Last year, more than 300 community volunteers showed up to help package donations accepted at more than 25 locations throughout Inspirada and Henderson—and this year, we aim to do it again! Do you want to be a part of giving back to the brave men and women serving? Here’s how you can get involved!
Donate
Donations of both goods and money will be accepted during the month of April. The cost of each box is approximately $40 for both the contents and shipping—and with an ambitious goal of 500 boxes, every little bit helps! Donation items will be pulled from a wish list to help make sure boxes are filled with the special goodies each soldier needs to feel at home, even on foreign soil.
Why not add a few extra items to your next shopping list? Snack foods like chips, cookies, and candy, as well as personal care items, are often requested and make for great additions to a care box. If you don’t have time to pick up physical items to fill the care packages, don’t worry! You can still help out!
As mentioned, each box costs about $40. While about half of that goes toward its contents, shipping costs $17 per care package. This makes monetary donations just as much of a help in reaching our goal! You can donate money or goods in-person at any of our 26 dropoff locations or submit your monetary donation online!

Volunteer
If you’d rather donate your time to help send care packages to military personnel, mark your calendar for Saturday, May 6 at 1 p.m. Volunteers can meet at Liberty High School in the lunchroom to assemble the care packages with the donated wish list items. Sealed care packages will be sent over to the post office to start their journey to the troops!
You do not need to RSVP beforehand to volunteer, simply show up and get ready to get packing! If you’re looking for a weekend event for the whole family, this is a great way to bond and create memories while giving back to the brave men and women sacrificing their comfort and safety for our nation. All ages are welcome!
