Your Guide to the Henderson Events Happening This Holiday Season

Henderson homes are decked out for the season. Residents have plenty of fun-filled events to pick from this month. You can run in a 5K dash, help the environment by recycling that Christmas tree, and even attend the last Last Friday of 2018.

This holiday season, welcome joy into your life by joining us in these local community events and spreading the cheer.

Monday, December 10

Inspirada Annual Deck the Halls Contest Deadline

All Day | Online | Free Admission

Henderson homes shine bright this time of year. Snap a picture of your home and submit it to Inspirada’s annual Deck the Halls contest. Voting will take place on our Facebook page from the 12th through the 19th. Tell your friends and neighbors to like the photo of your home.

Resident Advisory Committee Meeting

7 p.m. – 8 p.m. | Toll Brothers Clubhouse | Free Admission

Join your fellow Inspirada residents at this forum. During this event, you are invited to voice any opinions or concerns about the community to the board.

Candy Cane Festival

6 p.m. – 8 p.m. | Heritage Park Aquatic Complex | $5

Kids can burn off some of their sugar energy at this aquatic festival. Watch as they enjoy an evening of swimming, games, bouncy houses and even write and mail their letter to Santa. Admission is free if you bring a new or gently used coat.

Holiday Classics

6 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. | Downtown Recreation Center | $5

Settle in for an evening of classic holiday films. All the best family-friendly holiday films will be shown. Parents and children can enjoy snacking on popcorn as they watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, and more.

Reindeer Dash 5K

9 a.m. | Pecos Legacy Park | $35+

Break out those holiday sweaters and jingle bells. This one-of-a-kind 5K includes holiday music and a visit from Saint Nick as you make your way along the Pittman Wash trail.

Hot cocoa and treats will be available for purchase from Makena Lei’s Shave Ice and Goodies. Sign up multiple participants and receive a discount. The more the merrier!

Blood Donation

10 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Black Mountain Recreation Center | Free Admission

Be the reason for another person’s gratitude this season. Residents ages 17+ can register to donate blood. Use sponsor code “BlackMtn” to register in advance.

Give and Receive

9 a.m. – Until Event Ends | Downtown Recreation Center | Free Admission

Members of the Downtown Recreation Center are invited to donate clothes, toys, and other items to support those in need. Donations started being accepted back on October 1st, but this event will continue until all items have been placed with those in need.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Hours Vary | Locations Vary | Free Admission

Help the environment and pack up those Christmas decorations all at once. Residents can bring their tree (minus the ornaments and tinsel) to one of eight tree recycling locations up to January 15th.

Your tree will be turned into mulch to be placed around city parks. If you’d like some mulch to bring back home, the Pecos Legacy Park and Acacia Demonstration Gardens will be offering it for free— But be sure to bring a bag and shovel!

Send off 2018 in style on Water Street! This last Last Friday of the year highlights the artists and culinary experts of Henderson. Enjoy live music as you take in the experience of wandering around the booths filled with fares from local vendors.

New Year’s Eve Lock-In

7 p.m. – 8 a.m. | Henderson Multigenerational Center | $30

Children between the ages of 6-10 can ring in the new year at this all-night event. Activities include dancing, swimming, arts and craft, and scavenger hunts. Kids can raise a glass of apple cider to ring in the new year at midnight.

Don’t forget to pack a sleeping back and swimsuit. Register by the 21st to secure your spot.

Tuesday, January 1

Commitment Day 5K

10 a.m. | Green Valley Life Time Athletic | $30

Start the new year with a promise to your health. Life Time Athletic is hosting a Commitment Day 5K to jump-start those resolutions.

Each ticket includes a t-shirt, medal, and serves as your admission to a post-race social brunch. Children 12 years and under can join in for free (as long as they are with a paid adult).
