9 Reasons Las Vegas is the Best Place to Live

Many view Las Vegas as a destination, not a spot to call home. But, for those of us that are lucky enough to reside in the city of glitz and glamour, we think it’s one of the best places to live in the U.S.

It’s easy for us to go on and on about our city, but we managed to narrow down the top 9 reasons residents love living in Las Vegas.

Foodie Paradise
Is your favorite part of a vacation trying new restaurants, dining at the best restaurants in the nation, and getting to sample that-one-chef-from-TV’s food? Well, well, well… Las Vegas offers these opportunities every day for residents.

We have some of the best chefs in the nation; multiple Las Vegas chefs and restaurants have held the notable Michelin star rating. Famous chefs like Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse, Gordan Ramsay, Guy Fieri, Wolfgang Puck, and Giada de Laurentiis all operate restaurants in Las Vegas.

Plus, you can take the only reservation that is available for that prestigious restaurant months in advance because it will be a quick drive from home, no plane ticket required.

Locals Only Perks
Many local attractions offer discounts for residents; from spas to entertainment. During the summer there are many deals to be had. Just ask around, you’ll be surprised how many places will say yes.

No State Income Tax/Affordability
We don’t have state income tax … enough said. Plus, we’re one of the most affordable large metropolitans in the U.S.

Hello, Sunshine
With nearly 300 days of sunshine every year, Las Vegas residents receive no shortage of endorphin-inducing vitamin-D rays. When the 70-degree winter rolls around, you can often find locals taking to the outdoors. Coupled with the ability to choose an early or late workout in the summer, staying active and healthy is easy for residents.

No More “There’s Nothing to Do”
Nothing to do in Vegas? Hah. Don’t make us laugh at this crazy notion. As one of the entertainment capitals in the world, you’ll never be bored. Plus, there’s something for everyone:

  • Music concerts from national acts
  • Major professional football, ice hockey, and basketball teams
  • No shortage of shopping
  • Acclaimed shows

Nightlife
Sure, we could lump this into “entertainment,” but Las Vegas nightlife is so much more. It deserves its own category. If you’re looking for a weekend escape, an opportunity to let down your hair, or simply want to get down with your bad self and dance the night away, Las Vegas is admittedly the best place to be.

24/7 Convenience
With late-night entertainment comes an added bonus: 24/7 convenience. If hunger strikes during a midnight hour there are quite a few options.

Outdoor Beauty
With views featuring vibrant sunsets, mountain silhouettes, and The Strip’s sparkling and neon lights, Las Vegas often takes your breath away.

If you want to escape into nature, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Lake Mead National Recreational Area, and Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area are a short drive for Las Vegas residents.

Easy to Get Away
Sure, Las Vegas has plenty to offer, but if you want to explore other cities or explore different landscapes, it’s easy to get away. Las Vegas is a road trip away from vacations in Southern California and many national and state parks. Plus, our airport offers flights all across the globe and tickets to Hawaii are affordable.

Road trips from Vegas:

  • Valley of Fire State Park – 1 hour
  • Death Valley National Park – 2 hours
  • Zion National Park – 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Joshua Tree National Park – 3 hours 15 minutes
  • Grand Canyon National Park – 4 hours
  • Bryce Canyon – 4 hours
  • Los Angeles – 4 hours 15 minutes
  • Palm Springs – 4 hours 15 minutes
  • Phoenix – 4 hours 40 minutes
  • San Diego – 5 hours 20 minutes
